Strengthening quality healthcare in the AYUSH sector, the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Bengaluru has secured ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for its clinical laboratory, becoming the first institute under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) to achieve this.
According to Asianet News, the Ministry of Ayush has emphasised accuracy, reliability and safety of diagnosis along with globally accepted standards. The Ministry also highlighted the progress of the lab from a NABL-certified facility to a completely accredited centre of excellence, thereby strengthening the credibility of AYUSH-based diagnostics.
Highlighting the role of international accreditation in improving diagnostic accuracy and patient care standards, Prataprao Jadhav, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Ayush, stated that the Ministry continues to enhance AYUSH institutions to meet global standards. Thus, this achievement reflects the Ministry’s commitment to continuous improvement in healthcare. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, the Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, described the milestone as a defining step towards integrating diagnostics with traditional systems of medicine. It reinforces the Ministry’s focus on research and patient-centric care.
Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya stated that both NABH and NABL have helped strengthen the institute’s position as an Ayurveda Science Incubation Centre. Additionally, CARI Head Dr. Sulochana Bhat proudly credited Dr. Vidyashree Anchan and laboratory staff for their team efforts, leading to the achievement. A total of 1.52 lakh investigations were conducted at CARI, helping more than 9,300 patients with fast and accessible digital reporting services. This achievement underscores an increased capability of the laboratory for commitment and quality care.
