Samsung Electronics has declared that its worldwide connected living platform, SmartThings, has been certified for information security management systems (ISMSs) according to the International Standard ISO/IEC 27001:2022.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) created ISO 27001, the industry-leading global standard for ISMSs. The standard gives businesses direction on how to systematically manage information asset risks and meet information protection objectives.
The British Standards Institution (BSI), a well-known global standards and certification body, awarded the certification. A business must comply with the standard on 123 specific topics, including as incident response, information security policies, and access control for information assets, in order to receive certification.
Samsung has demonstrated through this certification that its SmartThings Cloud’s information security meets global requirements while offering seamless, integrated linked experiences. This formal acknowledgment will increase confidence and fortify company competitiveness with partners as well as SmartThings users.
“The importance of cloud technology and information protection is increasing in a rapidly changing business environment,” said Harold Pradal, President of Assurance Services at BSI. “We recognized that the operation capability and security level of Samsung SmartThings are excellent.”
“SmartThings receiving the ISO 27001 certification is the result of our sustained focus on the protection of information in a hyper-connected world with exponentially increasing intelligence.” said Seungbum Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics. “But this is just another step in our drive to fortify the platform’s security. We will continue to find new ways to ensure that SmartThings’ personalized services are provided even more safely.”
