CompuCycle, a Houston-headquartered IT asset disposition (ITAD) and electronics recycling company, has successfully attained ISO/IEC 27001 certification.

“We are so excited to be the exclusive electronics processor in Texas to have ISO 27001,” CompuCycle President Clive Hess says. “What this means for our clients is they can rest assured their data is secured when using CompuCycle. With this certification, it is virtually impossible to have a data breach using us because of the 27001 controls that we have implemented.”

ISO/IEC 27001 is an internationally recognized standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), focusing on protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organizational data.

The framework defines how CompuCycle systematically manages, monitors, and enhances its information security controls to guard against cyber risks and data breaches. For the electronics recycling industry, this certification carries particular weight, as it enforces rigorous requirements for secure asset disposal, responsible reuse, and irreversible data destruction across all hard drives and storage media, according to CompuCycle.

CompuCycle states that it is the only processor in Texas holding both R2v3 and e-Stewards certifications, and it now operates within a robust compliance framework that also includes ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.

In June 2024, the company further strengthened its recycling operations by introducing an advanced plastics recycling system, which enables the separation of plastics from electronic waste by polymer type, allowing for their reuse in manufacturing.
