KUWAIT: Highlighting the tangible results of its digital transformation strategy, Burgan Bank has confirmed the successful renewal of its ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 certification from the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The recertification reinforces the bank’s robust digital infrastructure and its adherence to globally recognised best practices in IT service management.
The renewal was achieved following a comprehensive external audit that assessed the effectiveness, scalability, and continual improvement of Burgan Bank’s IT operations. It clearly reflects the bank’s commitment to delivering a reliable and high-quality digital banking experience.
Commenting on the milestone, Barrak Al-Mattar, General Manager – Information Technology at Burgan Bank, stated that innovation-led leadership remains central to the bank’s strategy. He noted that delivering a seamless, secure, and responsive banking experience demands constant agility and ongoing enhancement of IT capabilities to keep pace with changing customer expectations.

He added: “In line with the bank slogan ‘Driven by You’, every system upgrade and service enhancement is designed with our customers at the centre to safeguard their data, earn their trust, and empower their ambitions.”
The ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 certification further strengthens Burgan Bank’s expanding portfolio of internationally recognised credentials. These include ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for Information Security Management System (ISMS), ISO/IEC 27701:2019 for Privacy Information Management System (PIMS), ISO 22301:2019 for Business Continuity Management System (BCMS), and ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management System (QMS).

It is clear proof of its strong governance framework and uncompromising operational discipline. In addition, the bank earned the LEED v4.1 O+M: EB Gold Certification for its Kuwait City Head Office, recognising its environmentally responsible building design and architecture, and reinforcing its commitment to leading environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
